“PM Magazine” Highlights Heart & Soul Success in Golden, Colorado

The International City/County Managers Association (ICMA) is the leading association of professional city and county managers and other local government employees. In the latest issue of their monthly publication, PM Magazine, ICMA features Golden, Colorado, a Heart & Soul town.

Golden, Colorado exemplifies play the long game, one of Heart & Soul’s three principles. The city of 20,000 initiated the Heart & Soul process in 2008 and continues to use its Community Heart & Soul value statements to guide planning and decision making.

“We learned how to go about engagement to be more inclusive and to learn from each other,” says Ricky Muriby, Golden’s director of community development, who has worked for the city since it became a Heart & Soul town.
