It was more than 20 years ago that the City of Pontiac last prepared a comprehensive city plan for the future. Much has changed in our community over those 20+ years, and it is time to create a new plan. In the simplest terms, an effective city plan helps government and citizens, working together, create a great community -- a wonderful place to live, to work, to raise a family. Having a plan allows us some control over the future of our city and provides us with a set of guidelines that we can refer to as circumstances change over time.

In order to get more public input on the shape of the City of Pontiac’s future, the City Council will be utilizing a new method of planning. At its December 18, 2017 meeting, the Council approved a resolution authorizing the implementation of the Community Heart and Soul.
